Ceiling Lighting
All types of ceiling lighting fixtures provide excellent general room ceiling lighting. Ceiling pendant lighting can be used to add more light to specific areas such as a kitchen table.
Chandeliers or pendants with 200-400 overall wattage provide abundant ceiling lighting for a dining room. Install 30" above the table to allow for head room when standing. The diameter of the fixture should be 12" less than the width of the table. Center the ceiling light over the table. To prevent accidents, stairs should be lit top to bottom, with the switches for the ceiling lighting in both places.
Ceiling lighting fixtures or recessed ceiling lighting will offer the needed ceiling light for stairs. Use a ceiling mount light fixture for general ceiling lighting in the foyer. For safety in hallways, use lighting fixtures every 8 to 10 feet.
Use increased wattage in areas where tasks are performed, in rooms with ceilings higher than 8 feet, and in rooms with dark-colored floors and walls. There are many different ytpe of contemporary ceiling lights.
